Stan Watson Receives Honor at Boston

Stan is perhaps one of the hardest workers for Christ I’ve ever seen. If something needs to be done, he’s amongst the first to volunteer here at church… so it’s little wonder that his volunteering spirit has gained him national notoriety as well. It’s true. Because of his untiring work at the WoodBridge Health Campus, Stan was named “volunteer of the year” by the American Health Care Association (an organization representing 10,000 nursing homes and assisted-living facilities across the country). To receive his award, he and his sister Bev Seybold were given an expense-paid trip to Boston last month to pick up his award.
Motivated by his love for others and his faith in God, Stan has spent so much time at WoodBridge that most new employees there thought he was part of the staff. Although he has heart problems and has some serious physical problems, he would do things like deliver the mail, take the residents for walks, or just visit with them and read the Bible to them. He’d accompany the residents to their physicians and on shopping trips (or would shop for them on his own). And even though he lives on a fixed income, he would often go to garage sales to buy prizes for the facility’s bingo games.
